Project Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world and has very few resources when it comes to eyecare. ChangeOpia is working with two eye hospitals in Sierra Leone to provide eyeglasses to those who need it. We are also working with blind schools to help provide more accessibility to diagnosis and treatment.

What You Can Do?

Our main goal is to collect different types of eyeglasses that can be used by people in Sierra Leone who do not have access to them. We are working to measure the prescriptions on all the eyeglasses we have collected and will test people’s vision using refraction tests to determine their necessary prescription and provide them with the correct pair of eyeglasses. You can help us today by donating unused pairs of eyeglasses that will go to good use! These can be any type and size of eyeglasses to help us provide a wide variety of options to those who need them.

Please Contact Us at [email protected] if you have if you have any eyeglasses for donations or questions.

What we Accomplished

We collected over 3,000 eyeglasses for hospitals and blind schools in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Thank you for all donations that went to children and adults in need, including Ebola survivors. We are still accepting donations, as we plan to send more eyeglasses in upcoming trips to Sierra Leone and other marginalized communities.
